img_9772Every year a committee of women from Assistance League of Bellingham work together to provide gifts for people in care centers. In December of 2016 they served 116 recipients in eight Whatcom County Care Centers.

The Care Center Support group shops, wraps and personalizes their holiday gifts for residents that do not have family or friends in the area.

In the photo, Assistance League of Bellingham member, Mary Ann Coughlin presents Christmas gifts to Kelly Erwing, activities director of Alderwood Park Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Our Care Center Chair, Margaret Bundy, reports, “You were all such a wonderful support group in the Holiday Season with shopping and wrapping and delivering gifts. You will be happy to know we received some glowing reports from the Care Centers. The men particularly like receiving their magazines and enjoy getting mail. The women love the pretty accessories.

The new clothing raises their self-esteem, and they love getting compliments. It is so gratifying to know that you brought so much pleasure to an often forgotten group. Thank you so much forparticipation in this program.”

Throughout the year these residents are sent greeting cards for their birthdays, and in the spring they are remembered again with sun hats for the ladies, and  sun visors for the men.
